INTRODUCTION
Financial market entails the buying and selling of commodities, securities alongside other fungible products at a reasonable transaction cost. Securities are currency based assets such as bonds, debentures and equity (Zöllner, 2014). The prices in the financial markets reveal the worldwide demand and supply. A few decades ago, financial markets’ transactions were entered by individuals where traders would check and decide when to buy or sell. Presently, businesses are in the era of smart technology. Computers are set to make the decisions of whether to buy or sell in the stock exchange markets (Economides, 2015). Sophisticated software is employed holding the opportunity of losing or gaining millions within micro-seconds (Schlemmer & Webb, 2006.). Unlike the past, it is hard for a fund manager to authorize thousands of transactions within a second. A good illustration is the case of a multinational bank owning thousands of branches and Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) with transactions overseas all through.
Technology is the backbone of the stock and the whole financial market. Issuing firms are listed on the online stock exchange market where investors trade. Price fluctuations are calculated electronically, and they keep fluctuating in micro-seconds and hence proving it hectic for manual calculations (McWater, 2015). Technology has also made it easy to access information. Investors research about their intended investment following what they make the prudent decision. Technology has thus proven a must for efficiency in businesses (Nanda & Kerr, 2014).
