Many people in entrepreneurship world have taken business preparedness to be a preserve of some given businesses, for instance, those that are of higher magnitude such as having global operative systems. What such thinking lacks is the understanding that; business preparedness is an aspect that ought to be adopted by every given business. This view emanates from a realization that; no single business is completely shielded from uncertainty. Fema (2015) asserts that; it is important for every business to take preparedness measures to ensure that, in the event of any uncertainty, the business does not collapse, and above all, life and property is protected.
A central point of business that direly requires preparedness is the communication system. As it is understood, communication in any given business plays a major role and it can determine the making or breaking of a venture. It is therefore critical that communication system in a business is given much of preparedness. Failure to this subjects business to high likelihood of collapse in the event of any uncertainty, which is unavoidable in any given business. The reason why there has been much emphasis on orienting business preparedness towards communication is that; this aspect is highly capable of preventing disasters in a business.
Fema (2015) notes that: when a business has well functional communication, it becomes easy for members to communicate to the effect of averting imminent disaster. Such is against occurrences in a business that does not have effective communication systems. It becomes hard for members to communicate any issues that if addressed would lead to a version of disasters in business. In understanding the importance of stabilizing communication as a way of business preparedness, it is critical that there is giving of attention to all sectors involved. This argument is based on the understanding that; if effective communication does not encompass everyone in a business, the loopholes are likely to subject business to possible disasters with little or no preparation.
In order to articulate disaster preparedness it is important to take business continuity in its inclusive meaning. Business continuity entails taking into consideration all the measures that are able to keep the business afloat in the event of any disaster.
