For an organization to achieve projected goals and objectives, a lot must be put in consideration. Besides and beyond the structural and strategic aspects, there are other factors that contribute to the growth and success of an organization. The values and culture upon which an organization is embedded play a pivotal role in determining growth of the organization. This paper focuses on Zappos.com an online shop that has experienced exponential growth. Among the key issues of focus include the values of the organization as well as the organizational culture.
Zappo's Core Value
One of the core values that has seen Zappos grow rapidly is an excellent customer service. Delivering of ‘WOW' through its services has seen an increase in the number of customers seeking to be associated with them. Zappos has realized the significance role and place of customers in a business. While the customer is the most important party in bay business, most organizations appear to forget that and put emphasis elsewhere. Zappos has discovered the secret and has ensured that customer happiness and satisfaction comes first. As a result, there is an increase in the number of repeat customers as well as new referrals.
Another core value that has seen Zappos rise to the ranks is the investment made to employees. It is very common for profit making organizations to focus more on how to raise their margins, often at the expense of their employees. This is not so with Zappos as employee happiness and satisfactions is well taken care of. Monthly surveys intended to gauge the satisfaction of employees is conducted. This is done with an aim of ensuring that the working environment is constantly conducive.
Zappos' Culture
The cultural organization at Zappos is one that encourages integration and social interactions. Appearing to move away from the common strict and bureaucratic culture, the organizational culture here encourages interaction of employees through social media. Most organizations do not allow use of social media during working hours. In fact, majority of organizations block firewalls that would allow for access of such sites. This, they argue, will ensure that employees are not directed during working hours. Zappos, however, has totally different approach.
