Some people consider money a key to permanent success, while for the others, it is merely a piece of paper. The fact is that money is one of our most important necessities, and it is used to buy the things we love or want to have in our lives. Despite its significant role in our lives, we should not become greedy for money. After years of research in the same field, social psychologist Paul Piff concluded that being wealthy is not as important as bringing positivity in one’s life and that most of the rich people devalue others, considering themselves more powerful and better. In this interesting and slightly controversial video titled Does Money Make You Mean, Paul shows footage of a psychological experiment. One of the two players (the rich) begins with more money and gets double the income. As he continues winning, he acts aggressively, eats many snacks, mocks the opponents, and keeps talking about the power of money. If the results of this experiment are extended to society as a whole, we get to know that the wealthy are less cooperative and compassionate. They are always into earning a lot more money and look crazy all the time. It is indeed an interesting study in which Paul Piff has proved his hypothesis. In the world we live in, the rich politicians, celebrities and other people are self-interested, which I do not think is a good thing. They should stay respectful to everyone around them...
