Lauren Berlant discusses Cruel Optimism and the cluster of promises in the lives of human beings. In the chapter “Cruel Optimism” by Lauren Berlant is an example of a conservative and adult-centered text. Berlant research tries to evaluate the cluster of promise that people want to make something or something they want to make it possible for them. The author asserts that the cluster of promise can be embedded in a person, institution, thing text poem or even an idea. Additionally, the object of desire as a cluster of promises allows people to encounter what is enigmatic in their attachments. That is attachments are optimistic.
