Agile Learning Reflection
The world is a quite diverse setting. There are always new experiences every day. These experiences should be embraced, and various lessons leant from them. Such is what entails agile learning. In reality, nothing in life is always constant. Various aspects are ever-changing and without our control. As a result, being open-minded and still learning from our experiences helps in the growth of an individual. It also improves the perception of others towards them. For an individual to create agile learning successfully, one must have solid foundation on the practices and procedures which are supposed to be learned and adopted.
With learning agility, I have learned that it is easier to adapt. This is because one gains a concept in one situation and can apply it in another context. Further a person can quickly come up with quick solutions based on the current need at the time. The ability to be flexible in thinking and acting is what the critical indicator of agile learning is. It can be achieved by taking a risk to reduce the monotony that has built up in a task. Last summer, I had taken a part-time job at a restaurant. I wanted to be busy and more importantly experiment on how productive I can be when working under pressure. I realized the restaurant was not very busy, and most of the time, I was not active. I had also overheard the manager say that the profits were going down and they may not be in a position to maintain the restaurant if the trend continued. I understood that it would be a bad thing for me since it would not be easy to get a job somewhere else. I had to be creative to make sure the restaurant remained on its feet. The owner was an open-minded person who took ideas from us. After holding a meeting with the manager, I suggested to him and other employees if we could start a happy hour two days a week. It was agreed that the happy hours would be on Fridays and Saturdays late in the afternoon. We printed flyers and let the word spread. For the following weeks, we saw more customers streaming in. Happy hour deals were on drinks and appetizers. Allowing people to buy a couple more drinks and share appetizers with friends made them stay longer and order dinner. Most of them became...
