In the Chapter II of In the Cause of Architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright, the definition of style with respect to architecture is described considering the different perspectives and standardizations. Concerning earlier views, John Bright depicts styles as features or characteristics that make a structure stand out from the rest. While still depicting newer and better styles in architecture, standardization is an important factor to make the practice cost-effective. Standardization acts as a guide to any architectural plan as the idea has been in the quest for ages. Man has churned out the fact that any new architectural design or plan has to be up-to-the specified ‘standards’. This may create little or less in the advancement of architectural styles. Whatever that may be considered as a novel or new design may be viewed with suspicion and would have to be standardized. But considering the architectural Renaissance, architecture has been continually reborn, and new styles and standards are being churned out. This was clearly depicted by the Greek Concept where architecture was viewed as merely decorating a structure’s outside appearance, but this changed comparing the spiritual conviction of the Greeks. It was then reborn in Florence as interior life and designs were appreciated more. The exterior beautification and refinement was considered as a standard, but no thought was paid to the interior’s design and vitality. This standard was revolutionized regarding the architectural rebirth at Florence. The building was no longer considered as a mass of building material to be worked on from the outside, but the room within was the expression of the building’s architectural design and style.
