In her The Near Transitive Properties of the Political and Poetical, Sharif portrays erasure as "what a state does." she discusses how the American government has destroyed and censored the Guantanamo detainees' language. She desired to investigate the message obstructed by political and forces but on second thought decided not to tamper with the previously existing literature. As a politically inclined poet, she poses a provocative poem that documents one of America’s worst memories.
