There is no doubt that advertising has grown and continues to grow into one of the biggest industries in the world. Today, billions of dollars go into advertising every year and this trend is not about to change any time soon. Every advert is built or created uniquely but there are inherent similarities or attributes which are repeated in all adverts. Xin (2018) mentions the use of simple words, the repetition of words, the use of new words, the use of compound sentences, the use of idioms, etc. as some of the inherent attributes of adverts. While all adverts do indeed exhibit some of the above features, it is essential to mention that there are also some differences which are triggered by different factors including cost, location, country of origin, etc. For example, looking at the adverts from China and other Western countries, one notes that there are some notable differences which can be attributed to the differences in the cultures of these countries. One of the differences between China and the Western countries is that the former is deeply influenced by traditional culture while the latter seems to want to break away from traditional culture. The Chinese are known to have a deeper sense of authority worship which is unlike the Western countries. In the Western countries people seem to embrace freedom and individualism.
