Please note you can agree or disagree in your response with any of the responses from the classmates as long as you back it up with explanation and facts. You must use at least 1 source from class readings for each response at minimum and 1 other source from class or outside of class.

In-text citations must be done in accordance with Global College Style Guide attached and not APA. (Questions A and B responses below have done citations appropriately).

  • QUESTION A:  This lesson focused on three different sets of threats: terrorism, transnational crime, and cyber warfare. How should policymakers prioritize these threats (explaining what factors you considered)? What similarities and differences do you see in these different types of threats? Are there lessons from one domain that can be applied to others, and if so, what are they?
  • QUESTION B: Consider the US strategies for combating terrorism and transnational organized crime. First, assess which recommended policies might be used to defeat both terrorism and organized crime, and why. Second, assess which recommended policies would be useful against organized crime but probably not terrorist groups, and why.

Justify and support your answer using your experience and source support from the assigned readings.

Response to Borowicz's Initial Response to DQ A
I agree with Borowicz that cyber warfare is a significant concern requiring those in authority to give it attention immediately. Cyberattacks have been a significant and rising issue in recent years. According to the World Economic Forum, cyberattacks are the fifth most likely global risk and may bring catastrophic economic and social damage (Lykou et al., 2019, 245). History shows that most adversaries are unlikely to launch a ground assault against people-on-US soil. They may launch cyberattacks from a great distance away, minimizing risk.
In contrast to a sea, land, or air fight, individuals know their foes. The report also shows a rise in the frequency, sophistication, and expense of cyberattacks, which may impair vital services, crucial infrastructure, and national security. Policymakers must prioritize cybersecurity and adequately devote the necessary funds to reduce this danger.
Additionally, numerous lessons may be applied across domains regarding the similarities and variations between the various threats. For instance, to properly tackle these risks, worldwide cooperation is required. Coordination between law enforcement and intelligence services from many nations is essential in the event of terrorism and transnational crime to thwart the operations of these groups (Austin, 2020, 11). Like conventional combat, improving cybersecurity and speedy cyberattack response require collaboration between foreign governments and private sector organizations.
