The purpose of the Personal Proof Project is to understand that a stance or opinion on a global, local, or personal issue should be based on logical reasoning and argumentation. In this project, you will address a global issue and construct reasoned arguments to justify an opinion.
First, what is Global Citizenship?
According to the Oxfam Global Citizen education project, the Global Citizen is someone who: 
• is aware of the wider world and has a sense of their own role in it 
• respects and values diversity 
• has an understanding of how the world works 
• is passionately committed to social justice 
• participates in the community at a range of levels, from the local to the global 
• works with others to make the world a more equitable and sustainable place 
• takes responsibility for their actions.

Your project consists of four parts:
1. Research a Topic.
2. Write a Personal Statement.
3. Find five (or more) reasons which support your Personal Statement.

The paper will focus on various global issues that greatly concern most global citizens. A global citizen is a person who is cognizant with the happenings or events around the world. The paper will mention some of the global issues that affect most people around the world but will concentrate on a single issue, that is, racism. A discussion will be provided on how it has become rampant in our today’s society and its effects.
Issues that concern global citizens
There are several issues that affect most people around the world that greatly concern global citizens. Some of these issues include global warming, racial discrimination, universal education, child mortality, unemployment and extreme poverty. First, racial discrimination is an issue of grave concern due to its growing prevalence in today’s society. Secondly, universal education is another serious issue that concerns most global citizens due to the increased cost of acquiring elementary education in most countries around the world.
Two issues I am most concerned with
Iam most concerned with racism and unemployment. These two issues are highly correlated in countries that are racially diverse such as the US. This is where you find that the unemployment level is higher among people of certain races and vice versa. For instance, in the US, there is a high unemployment rate among the African-Americans and the Hispanic communities while the white communities have a significantly lower rate.
The issue the paper will focus on
The project will focus on racism and will explore the extent in which it has grown. Racial discrimination has become rampant in our society and thus action has to be taken to maintain it at a manageable level. Although numerous efforts have been made to promote harmony among people of different races, it is still apparent in all parts of the society.
Personal statement
Racial discrimination has been a global setback and it has serious repercussions. Though there has been a spirited fight against it, there is still a lot that needs to be done to curb the vice. Coming from a minority race, I decry the state of my social life and that of my family at large. With many laws set to combat racial discrimination and harassment, the vice is still rampant in our society. The country has tried in all ways to fight discrimination, but the society has not fully appreciated the efforts. With an increasing number of migrants into our country and the burgeoning number of minority groups, we should uphold zero tolerance to ethnic discrimination. As a citizen of this great nation and contributing to its development, I believe I should be treated with dignity irrespective of my skin color. The differences we hold should be used as a way of showing our unity regardless of our diversity.
