Pretend you are a soldier in either the First or Second World War

Dearest Lizzie,
I hope that this letter finds you well and in good health. I’m sorry that it has been quite some time since I last wrote. The war is as fierce as it ever was and we are engaged day and night. We are moving in an allied advance from Paris to the Rhine and the winter cold bites harder than ever. It is the thought of your warm and sweet smile that keeps me strong and warm, Lizzie. Knowing I will see that smile again strengthens my resolve to overcome the Nazi scum that we are fighting.

I am writing this letter because I feel a strong desire to talk to you and tell you how things are. Sometimes I pretend that you are here at camp with us and we are talking about the trees and flowers that we are going to plant in the garden.
