Course: ECO 2013.0m3 & .0M4 & Principles of MacroeconomicsPaper: A short (5-8 pages) entitled ‘Choices'; it is described below and in more detail at the end of this instruction sheet. It requires me to specify my outlook on my future. The Choices Paper: The required content, length, and other guidance are outlined at the end of this and is discussed in the 5 YouTube videos, as noted at the end of this instruction sheet. PLEASE!!! make sure you watch ALL YouTube Videos at end before writing this choices paper!!!!!!!Choices: A Personal StatementLet's try a modified definition of economics: call it “the study of happiness.” After all, what you do with what you have – today – will determine in large part whether your future is a happy one. If you are enrolled in college, it seems reasonable to assume that you also believe that. You are investing today – in yourself – for a brighter future.I would like to lead you through an examination of this investment you are making in the following exercises. Your task, when we are done, is to write a paper – a “Choices” paper – about where you are now and where you intend to go over the next five years or so. Every principle we will apply, remember, also has application in any organization or society setting its course for the future. So this entire exercise/paper would be just as appropriate for an organization (family, corporation, etc.) or a society to undertake.Step 1 is to examine your internal value system. Closely examine the following sample list of values – and add to it with other values that occur to you during the process – and select the top three to five values which you believe to be most important in your life. Write them down. Then prioritize them from most to lesser importance. Finally, for each one that you have chosen, write an explanation with examples to make it clear what you mean by your choice of a specific term. This is the first section of your Choices paper.

Values
Every individual faces tough decisions and goes through various circumstances in their lives. For one to make intelligent decisions and be in a position to get through the different kinds of situations one require to have values that will guide them and shape their priorities and reactions. Values help us to identify if we are going in the right direction and also determine if our lives are turning out as we had anticipated. Individuals always aim at having actions that align with their values so that they can feel more satisfied in life and eliminate the odds of having the restlessness that arises when our demeanors do not match up with our values. Personally, the values that resonate with me and those that I live by include family, success, achievement, dedication, and discipline. Among the listed values, the most important to me include family. The second important value includes discipline, then dedication, achievement and finally success.
A family is the best thing that can happen to anyone. It provides unlimited support and sustains one during difficult times. It provides one with the push and motivation one needs to achieve goals and dreams. Moreover, it gives us an unfiltered view of our actions when asked, and for that reason, one can establish if one is making the right decision or not. I also value discipline because, with discipline, I am able to have self-control, and therefore I do not engage in activities that I tend to believe they are not morally upright. Dedication on the other hand helps me to never give up no matter how the situation changes. It helps me to stop at nothing even if things become too difficult. I prefer being called a failure to being called a loser because I believe in trying rather than giving up when things seem too hard and cumbersome. I also value achievement and success because the two render me with the satisfaction and happiness that results when one completes a particular task or accomplishes a particular objective.
Vision
Most individuals have visions that depict where they want to see themselves in future and what are the various things they would wish to have within a specified period. In five years time after I graduate I desire to be employed in one of the best companies in the US such as Ernst and Young Company and earn substantial pay that is sufficient to offer me a decent and comfortable life. Working at a big company helps you meet with sharp minds, learn about various ideas, and get to see the bad and the good. Consequently, one becomes equipped with all the necessary knowledge that is needed to run their own business in the future.
I also desire to work in a very favorable working environment that helps me grow as a person. A working environment that is free in that one can air their views and perceptions without fear of intimidation and discrimination. I also want to have a family of my own with one or two kids. Moreover, I want to live in one of the epicurean cities such as Key Biscayne or Marco Island where safety and security are guaranteed, and social amenities are readily available. I also desire to own various cars such as Lamborghini and Chevrolet Impala. Also, I want my children to be in one of the most prestigious ...
