The introduction is adequately developed as the writer gives out the background of the topic that is "Bright faced ideology." The writer describes how positive thinking has impacted society. The writer also explains what is involved in positive thinking. Comparisons are made to the ongoing protests to show how the ideology relates to it (Valle). So, the writer sets the general context to a reader. In Ancheta’s essay, the background of the pandemic is laid out. The writer narrates the origin of the virus. Ancheta shows how people are trying to give out a positive message despite the harsh realities. A reader can understand the consequence of adopting a positive attitude during a pandemic. So, from the introduction, a reader can understand the context of the paper.
B
In both papers, the reader can identify the thesis statement. For example, in Valle's essay, the thesis statement is, "During the ongoing protests we have seen certain behaviors arise within society, based on the behaviors witnessed, we can see the bright sided ideology fading given the current times, the ideology has reached its expiration date." In Ancheta's essay, the thesis statement is, "During the COVID 19 pandemic, people are still in the "bright side" mentality by not putting enough effort in stopping COVID 19, lacking knowledge and blaming others, and ignoring their fear and becoming selfish. Both Valle and Ancheta can improve their thesis statement by making them more specific in a shorter sentence.
