Personal Statement
Part 1
A Family Nurse Practitioner can work independently, and this has always motivated me to become the one after gaining the required knowledge and experience. I want to focus on achieving professional autonomy, without the supervision of a physician, and I think that no other profession can provide me with this opportunity. The long-standing debates over independent nursing practice have been quite controversial but have started to heat up again due to the increased demand for medical services by aging baby boomers and individuals who will be newly insured via healthcare reforms. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I want to educate patients regarding how to take care of themselves once they recover from the illness and are discharged from the medical center. I do not want to earn a lot of money through this profession; instead, my aim is to find out the ways of serving the ill, irrespective of their age, gender, class or religion.
