Stephanie, a Stay-at-Home mom, late 30s – early 40s

Other (Not Listed) Instructions:

Write a 700- to 1,050-word play, incorporating a clear beginning, middle, and ending. Your play must have at least two characters.
My suggestion for a one act play with two characters would be:
a child and a parent in the kitchen, the kid doing homework at the table while parent is making dinner.
Or Two people meeting for the first time at a starbucks, perhaps for an interview or a first date.
I'm just throwing out ideas, please feel free to incorporate your own scenario for this assignment.
Grammar and punctuation variations are acceptable if they serve the needs of the piece.
Note: You do not have to use a particular style, such as MLA or APA, as this is a creative writing assignment.

One-Act Play
Characters: Stephanie, a Stay-at-Home mom, late 30s – early 40s. Elle, a high school student, late teens – early 20s.
Setting: A Car
Time: The Present
Stephanie (mom) and Elle (daughter) sit side by side in the front seat of a car. The air is filled with silence. All that can be heard is the sound of the air conditioner. Elle rests her head on the headrest while she stares out the window. She has unbuttoned her school shirt and her tie hangs loosely around her neck. Stephanie wears a long-sleeved cheetah print dress. She occasionally shifts her gaze from the road to her daughter.
Stephanie: Hey, sweetheart, do you want to talk about what happened?
Elle: (arms firmly crossed) No, mom.
Stephanie: I think we should talk about it, even if it is just for a little while.
Elle: I do not want to talk about it, mom.
Stephanie: Okay, I respect that.
Elle: Great.
Stephanie: But, I do. I do want to talk about it. (Pause) Can we?
Elle: I am not in the mood for conversations mom, I have nothing to say.
Stephanie: Oh, Well, Elle, I am the mom here.
Elle: (Rolling her eyes) you don’t say.
Stephanie: And, not to mention, I have not grounded you yet.
Elle: I did nothing wrong.
Stephanie: Nothing wrong! Driving without a license is the very definition of wrong.
Elle: But, he was drunk.
Stephanie: I know that.
Elle: What else would you have me do in a situation such as that?
Stephanie: You should have called me.
Elle: (sighs heavily) I do not want to talk about this anymore.
Stephanie: I have not yet decided on your punishment.
Elle: Are you serious? You are going to punish me?
Stephanie: If you start talking, maybe I will not.
Elle: Can we do this later, maybe at home?
Stephanie: No. We are stuck in traffic, so we might as well do it here.
Elle: Why won’t you stop pressing?
Stephanie: If you start talking, I will stop pressing.
Elle: Is that a promise?
Stephanie: I am not making any promises today.
Elle: (Rolls her eyes) Great
Stephanie: So, I’m listening, start talking.
Elle: This is not fair.
Stephanie: What is not fair is you coming home past curfew, driving past curfew without a license, with your drunk boyfriend puking all over the walkway. That sucks.
Elle: No one says sucks anymore.
Stephanie...
