For millions of American students, business school is perhaps one of the most exciting and promising fields today. Due to the constant improvement of current market factors as well as the lucrative image of CEOs and managers in popular media, many students consider business schools as one of the ‘go-to’ fields for today. However, it must be noted that some of the benefits of being a business major are not only financial and personal growth brought about by society, but also the moral development that they can contribute as society rebuilds from the effects of the pandemic. This includes an increase, not only in career choices, opportunities, and benefits but also a growth in the opportunity to give back to society.
Business and the Society
The interconnection between business and society has always been direct and straightforward in a highly capitalist world that we live in today. That is, business is affected by external circumstances, while the environment and society are shaped by policies and trends that are ultimately based on profit. This is the reason why the idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been one of the main focuses in the field. As for business students, this idea is not uncommon as they learn from their subjects that decisions, especially of large companies, are profoundly imbued with the public interest as it could direly affect its nation’s economy.
