I believe that abortion is immoral but in reality, when a woman discovers she is pregnant, abortion seems to be the only option. This is because most pregnancies are unplanned, causing discomfort. That is why in the U.S. alone about 1.6 million pregnancies end in abortion. There are certain situations that force women to secure abortion since they do not have any option left. As much as anti-abortion activist term abortion as murder, there are certain circumstances that force women to secure an abortion. In an event where one develops severe complications, abortion is the only way of saving her life. However, I still believe that abortion is not right because life begins at conception, meaning that aborting a pregnancy is murder. During pregnancy, the fetus is alive as one is able to see and hear the heartbeat of the unborn child.
Abortion is a sensitive subject that needs to be viewed from two different perspectives as it deals with two human beings, the mother, and the unborn child. In my view, everyone needs to appreciate the dignity of life but at times circumstances forces people to act otherwise. Therefore, legalizing abortion should only be applicable in certain circumstances when a woman’s life is in danger, but not by choice.
