My motivation to pursue a Master’s in Visual Narrative is driven by my desire to understand how I can promote my artwork and solve the problems I encounter in storytelling. I graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) as an art illustrator. However, I want to engage in other meaningful activities in the visual narrative so that I can inspire and sympathize with people undergoing different challenges in life. For this reason, the primary reason I have chosen the visual narrative program is that I want to comprehend various art techniques that can enable me to be an outstanding storyteller.
I know that choosing a Master’s in Visual Narrative is the first step to being a good storyteller. I want to be nurtured so that I can be emotionally intelligent and pass critical messages to individuals around me who might be undergoing psychological, emotional, physical, or financial problems. My dream career is significantly affected by comic works, particularly Manga. I grew up watching Manga and I have always yearned to have proper artistic skills so that I can introduce other comical characters. When I was in primary school, I mimicked various Manga styles and it was a fan for me. However, I realized that I cannot satisfy myself by imitating other artists’ works, which is the reason why I joined the art profession in high school. I obtained fundamental art knowledge, proficient drawing skills, and developed tastes in sequential arts by reading comic works from renowned artists such as Juanjo Guarnido and Jean Giraud.
