From surveying the diverse collection, the potential meanings that European visitors may have taken include getting to know about the diverse, rare and strange plants and animals species and other curiosities found in different parts of the world, including the New World. The visitors wanted to see for themselves various rarities including natural and man-made specimens from all over the known world. It is notable that John Tradescant, both the son and father, obtained plant, trees and animal species from all over the globe. In the diverse collection, European visitors also saw various rare and strange objects from different parts of the world include the Americas, Asia, Africa and other parts of Europe. John Tradescant and his son accumulated collections of ornamental trees and flowers, and various animals. They collected botanical specimens as well other rarities. There is actually a thread holding each of these items together as a whole: they all were strange and rare items that were new to England. Nearly all of those items had never been seen in England. This is related to the New World in that since the objects and items revealed the diverse plant, trees, and animal specifies found in the New World of North America and South America, for instance the North American elk. It is notable that the Virginia Company of London introduced a lot of plants from North America into England such as the tulip tree, Virginia creeper, and American cowslip, which are rarities of plants and flowers and a lot of these rare plants and flowers from the New World became standards of the English cottage garden of the present day.
