The Chinese Exclusion Act 1882
The Chinese exclusion Act 1882 resulted in poor living conditions of the Chinese immigrants in America during and after the implementation. The American inhabitants in the west received better treatment than the Chinese immigrants settling in the country. This issue worsened after the inaction of the law, whereby the Americans always thought they had a better position in their country than the foreigners. Excluding Chinese immigrants from entering the country resulted in the inadequate treatment of the Chinese in the country since they should not have been in the country. The law pushed the Americans to believe that the Chinese did not deserve any act of humanity in their country. Although the law was repealed in 1943 during World War II, the action could not change the mindsets of the Americans against the Chinese immigrants. In this case, the Americans held to their morally wrong stance that they deserved better treatment than the immigrants.
The sentiments against the Chinese grew to the extent of the Americans not recognizing their cultural values. The inhabitants thought that what their standards and cultural beliefs were the most significant. Also, Americans featured Chinese people as cruel, filthy, and cowards that did not deserve American citizenship.
