The Coast Guard
The Coast Guard is a military branch providing maritime, military, and other multi-mission services in the United States. The military branch also provides maritime law enforcement services in domestic and international aquatic territories (Guard, 2012). With more than 42,000 service members, the Coast Guard's unique military branch performs roles such as saving lives and guarding the environment. The Coast Guard offers services under the US Department of Homeland services but can be transferred by the president to the Department of Defense during the war (Borland, 2015). Under Title 10 of the US Code, the Coast Guard is tasked with providing military services in the US, while under Title 14, it provides law enforcement services.
