Our mentors will be a consistent and dedicated team of individuals who will make it their goal to work on a personal basis with a church member or individual concerned. * Mentoring program ministry guideline * Always be on time for every appointment. It is always respectful to be there in time since this will help the single parent realize that you value him or her. * Signing-up to be a mentor requires one to be a dedicated, self-less person and it is done on a voluntary basis. This means that, one has to deny his or her time in order to meet up with a single parent if need be. * One must make it his or her goal to meet a single parent three times in every single week. Scriptures tell us to encourage each other daily as long as it is called ‘today`. Therefore, it is important to always be in close-contact with a single parent. * Follow-ups after every encounter are important. Each mentor is required to make a daily follow-up of the single parent concerned and this can be done through constant e-mailing and telephone calls. * Use biblical passages in every meeting with a single parent to encourage and challenge the individual. One`s own convictions or ideas are not enough to challenge the single parent. * Develop close friendships and relationships with the single parent. The mentor has to put himself in the other people`s shoes and avoid being critical, judgmental or proud. * Mentoring Program Ministry Plan * Prayer As a mentor, you need to tackle every issue discussed after every appointment with prayer since you require God`s guidance on how to address them. The parent needs to be honest and real as possible towards God.
