Bipolar disorder is a serious medical condition that manifests itself through exaggeration of common emotions and anxieties. Additionally, it is manifested in the form of hypomaniac tendencies. People suffering from the condition usually swing from a state of happiness, energy and joy, to a sudden state of sadness and depression. In a similar breath to most of the other psychological disorders, there is a serious lack of a holistic pathogenesis and etiology of the condition.
The article A Review of Bipolar Disorder in Adults provides a review of the entire care process, from epidemiology to assessment as well as management, of the disorder. It addresses, with some more emphasis, the aforementioned aspects of the disease, such as depression and hypermania. The method used was to conduct a survey that spanned a 15-year period from 1990 to 2005. All the aspects about the condition were considered.
From the findings, it is evident therefore that bipolar disorder is a serious condition whose diagnosis can take even years before being done.
