Revisions and Proofreading
A writer's focus to details are frequently connected to a writer's trustworthiness. By paying more consideration to particulars, one do away with errors and overlying of data. This is why those who read are guaranteed to recognize these mistakes and one such mistake is sufficient for the reader to dismiss the author's work as inaccurate. It’s definite to me that these three procedures, revising, editing, and proofreading, are different. While they do overlap, they all play different purposes and have dissimilar intentions in relation to improving ones writing. The three processes has made me understand scholarly writing procedure differently than before.
The process of revising comes first after the first draft is completed. The focus of revising a paper is if or not the author has attained every goal they had set for the writing. Revision equals to re-seeing the whole paper in a different way (Taylor, 2019). This is why it is important to get a different set of understanding or opinion on the writing from others. The process of revising looks at the global matters over the local issues or Higher Order Concerns (HOC), which include the objective, thesis, structure and development. The questions that one may ask in this process: Do I have a perfect directing objective or thesis? Is the paper structured in a logical manner that for the intended readers? Do I back every claim and progress every thought? What is missing in the paper? And lastly what needs to be taken out or moved around? This is the stage where one needs to consider their readers and the content of their writing. Some look up to revision as substantial editing. According to Taylor (2019), through this stage one may put chapters in order, decide if their characters are in conformity with the characters they have given them, and guarantee that the standpoint and tense are logical.
Editing is usually analyzed into content and subediting. Content editing may go along with revision. Editing is most times also referred to as substantive editing. On the other hand, copyediting might go along with proofreading. In several instances, the word “editing” cover things s...
