1. Thesis
“I wrote Writing for Scholarly Publication to help readers become more interested in research and writing and more confident in making a contribution of their own” (Huff, 2016). The above thesis statement is located in the second paragraph, and it states the purpose of the paper and sets its stage appropriately. In particular, its positioning is effective since it prepares the reader of what the author is about to discuss. However, the thesis statement can be improved by including the five primary points that Huff discusses communication.
2. Introduction
The introduction gives a general background of the subject of the paper. For sure, it makes a person wants to read the article so that one can understand how to choose the right resources for the publication. After reading the introduction, the reader knows the primary purpose of the paper, and Huff intends to address it by reviewing two books, namely “Designing Research for Publication” and “Writing for Scholarly Publication” (Huff, 2016).
3. Introduction: Follow-Through
After reading the entire paper, it was clear that the introduction gave a good idea of what Huff addresses in her book review.

The conclusion connects with the introduction and the thesis statement logically. Specifically, it reiterates the points discussed by the author in the paper and shows how she achieved her objective. Overall, it offers closure to Huff’s article and emphasizes the thesis statement.

Huff’s article is organized logically into different sections. In reality, it has headings and subheadings that indicate the main and minor points. Different sections have a logical sequence that supports the thesis statement. For example, after the introduction is the part, “Central Messages From Two Books on Publishing Scholarly Work” that discusses the five primary components, which are relevant when writing an article to be published (Huff, 2016). The most successful strategy of idea development that Huff uses is examples from other articles without forgetting to cite respective authors.
6. Development of Ideas
The primary points of the paper are developed sufficiently. One of the interesting points that Huff brings out and which would be developed further is how to choose the right resources to initiate a conversation about a specific point. The only place where the paper goes off a tangent is where the author says that people should follow the portfolios of those they admire. The reason why this point is misleading is because academic domains might be different. Nevertheless, no place where Huff over relies on generalization.
