American Monument
A monument is a building or statue created to remember an important person or event. It preserves history as a form of visual art. The narrative is to be honored or just kept as a story to explain the origin or happenings in life. Monuments arouse curiosity and give people a drive to know the information behind the piece. Such a structure is the Washington monument in the United States (U.S). This essay explains when it was built, its current location, the message it represents, and its relevance to Americans currently and in the future.

The Washington Monument is in the form of an Egyptian obelisk located at the National mall and the U.S Capitol in Washington, D.C. It is to the East of the reflecting pool. It is the tallest obelisk that shows respect for the founding father of America. Robert Mills designed the monument that was later completed by Casey Thomas and the U.S army engineers. It is created in a clear space to be in no shadow. The monument's construction took place in two phases; thus, its colors look like two colors. It is a lighter shade of white at the bottom and darker at the top since the top was built the latest. At the very top of the aluminum cap, the monument contains the period's names and dates that led to its construction. Inscribed on the East side are the Latin words, "Laus Deo," which means Praise to be to God. The monument is constructed with graphite and marble.
