Other (Not Listed) Instructions:

You will write a 5–7-page paper answering the question, “What is a successful president?” You must include an introduction, body, and conclusion, along with a title page and reference list. (Note that the page requirement does not include the title page, reference page, and any appendices).
Place your answer in a public policy context, note the importance of the question, and concisely state an answer in your introduction. Explain, clarify, elaborate, support, and generally develop your answer with facts, reasoning, and material drawn principally from the course. Display your knowledge of the purpose of government and the presidency, the president’s roles, and biblical and philosophical standards while distinguishing the president from a demagogue. Conclude by reviewing the main point and personal relevance.
You must compose this essay according to current Turabian format. Use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and 1-inch margins. Include complete citations of the book and any additional sources. Use a minimum of 5 sources from the course (books, articles, web pages, or videos), and at least 1 additional source, but avoid long quotations.
The Reflection Paper is a substantive writing assignment in an upper-level graduate public policy course. As such, you are expected to comport with the highest writing, research, and ethical standards. To do well on these assignments you must offer rich, well-supported analysis; mere opinion will not suffice. At this level, you will need to exhibit your mastery of basic writing and proofreading skills. Review your work for careless or simple grammar errors such as misspellings, incomplete sentences, comma splices, faulty noun/verb agreement, etc., prior to submission.
