Gun Control
Introduction
Gun control involves a set of legal processes for controlling the number of firearms owned by citizens within a particular arbitration. According to the American constitution's second amendment, every American citizen has a right to own a gun. Recently there has been an increase in shooting cases, and some people have been advocating for the ban of all guns. Activists debate that the formulation of gun control laws would reduce the frequency of violent crime cases by reducing firearms' incidences (Barney et al., 2019). On the other hand, some members of the public are against gun control, claiming that they help in self-protection and the general safety of the citizens.
Gun control laws do not do away with the Second Amendment. Gun control supporters do not advocate for the guns to be carried away from the citizens, but rather they applaud the second amendment, which reads: "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." They back the decision made by the Supreme Court in 2008 that authenticate the understanding of the amendment that shield's the citizen's right to possess a gun different from those working in the militia, and using of the gun only for lawful reasons, for instance, self- protection within an individual's home (Campion et al., 2017). Also, the Supreme Court's decision stresses that the Second Amendment does not permit anyone to keep and carry any firearm around in any way and for any reason.
Gun limitations control the sale of firearms to the wrong people. Implementation of gun restrictions will promote world safety by preventing the ownership of guns by the wrong people. Those people who survived the Parkland massacre in February 2018 proposed the general background inspection and checking of both private and gun show auctions to assist in preventing criminals and people with mental health issues from possessing the guns (Wasike,2017). Also, compulsory safety elements should be taken into consideration. For instance, safety tools should be fitted on guns to reduce unintentional gun shootings of kids and, in some cases, by children.
Gun control laws will help stop the trade of wrong guns, thus reducing the carnage. A magazine with high-capacity allows the person to shoot to fire many times without reloading the gun, thus enabling the criminal to perform mass killings. According to research, magazines with the ability to accommodate a large volume of cartridges are used in a 50% minimum of a total of 62 mass shootings that were evaluated (Benton et al., 2016). For instance, the high school mass shooting at Parkland in 2018 left 17 people dead and 14 injured. In this case, a semi-automatic AR-15- rifle, a less dangerous weapon, was used. Bump stocks, equipment attached to the semi-automatic rifle were used in the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017 (Barney et al., 2019). This led to its ban by Trump’s government.
Guns help in enhancing an individual gun-holders’ sense of safety. Law enforcement organizations are continually and indisputably performing a goo...
