Health Screening and Teaching
Screening and counseling are critical processes of managing chronic illnesses, such as cancer. Regular screening using Pap tests help in the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer. The core objective of screening and treatment programs is to minimize the high mortality rates and other adverse impacts of the condition. Naz et al. (2018) postulate that medical practitioners can utilize pap tests as a single screening or a sequence for a positive impact in addressing the condition. Notably, the provision of cervical cancer in the community is critical in raising awareness about cervical cancer to minimize the instances of high mortality and morbidity rates. If medical practitioners provide counseling services frequently, more women would be willing to undertake pap tests.
A pap smear is one of the preventive measures that help in detecting precancerous and cancerous cervical cells. Therefore, I will utilize the strategy in addressing the high incidents of the illness among women. I would recommend pap smear on an annual basis based on the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). According to Shirvasatava et al. (2013), cervical cancer occurs of the cervix cells grow abnormally or out of control. Therefore, a pap smear would help in obtaining cervix cells for examination. As such, I would identify any incidents of precancerous cells, cancerous cells, or any other abnormal changes. I can choose to repeat pap smear and other additional tests if the pap smear results are abnormal.
In my case, I believe that I possess effective communication and counseling skills to train women on strategies of managing and avoiding cancer infections. As a result, I can implement routine screening in the prevention of cervical cancer. (Shirvasatava et al., 2013) In most instances, I find access to evidence-based information to practice more effectively based on the available information. Systematic screening programs enhance the overall reduction in the morbidity and mortality rates among people living with cancer. Currently, the perception among women, retrogressive cultural practices, lack of adequate information, and poor accessibility to healthcare facilities are the main causes of the low levels of cervical cancer tests. Therefore, I will have to conduct counseling among women to enlighten them on the need for tests in preventing cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer continues to have far-reaching impacts among women across the world. Notably, new cases of such incidents have continued to increase over the years. Lack of effective screening programs is one of the factors that has influenced an increase in illness incidents. Therefore, I recommend pap test screening to detect precancerous conditions and treat them before they progress to invasive cancer (Naz et al., 2018). If women lack access to screening programs, they might encounter high rates of human papillomavirus (HPV) infections as the primary cause of cancer across both developed and developing nations. Therefore, I will have to organize training sessions to enlighten women about the illness and ways of preventing high incidents.
