Speech Disorder VS Language Disorder
A speech disorder is a type of communication disorder where there is a disruption of normal speech while language disorder is a communication disorder where one has difficulties learning and using the various forms of language. These forms of language may be written, spoken or sign language.

Refers to difficulties in spoken language.
In speech-language, a person is unable to say the sounds clearly, and they find themselves saying something repeatedly while saying it. There is also an aspect of pausing a lot when trying to communicate in addition to speaking in a hoarse voice.
Speech disorder can be caused by respiratory problems, damaged vocal cords and brain damage among other illnesses. Conditions such as stroke and autism can cause speech disorder. In some cases, the condition is hereditary, and it is passed on by family members.
The symptoms of speech disorder vary depending on the cause. The most common signs of speech disorder include blinking severally while talking, speaking with a hoarse voice and blinking multiple times while speaking (Minnis,2017). People also tend to add words and sounds while conversing. Sometimes, they are frustrated when they try to communicate since they cannot pass across what they want.
Speech disorder can be diagnosed in many different ways. The Denver Articulation Screening Exam is carried out to help in the diagnosing of disorders based on articulation. The test helps in evaluation of pronunciation in children. The other test carried out is the Peabody picture vocabulary test (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). This test involves listening to several words and choosing pictures that best represent the words. Blind people are unable to undergo this assessment because of their condition.
