sample:I am writing to appeal my academic dismissal from Ivy University. I was not surprised, but very upset to receive a letter earlier this week informing me of my dismissal. I'm writing to you with the hope to be reinstated for next semester. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to explain my circumstances.
I admit I had a very difficult time last semester, and my grades suffered as a result. I don't mean to make excuses for my poor academic performance, but I would like to explain the circumstances. I knew that registering for 18 credit hours in the spring would require a lot of me, but I needed to earn the hours so as to be on track to graduate on time. I thought I could handle the workload, and I still think I could have, except that my father became very ill in February. While he was home sick and unable to work, I had to drive home every weekend and some weeknights to help out with household duties and to care for my little sister. Needless to say, the hour-long drive each way cut into my study time, as did the chores I had to do at home. Even when I was at school, I was very distracted with the home situation and was unable to focus on my schoolwork. I understand now that I should have communicated with my professors (instead of avoiding them), or even taken a leave of absence. I thought I could handle all of these burdens, and I tried my best, but I was wrong.
I love Ivy University, and it would mean so much to me to graduate with a degree from this school, which would make me the first person in my family to complete a college degree. If I am reinstated, I will focus much better on my schoolwork, take fewer hours, and manage my time more wisely. Fortunately, my father is recovering and has returned to work, so I should not need to travel home nearly as often. Also, I have met with my advisor, and I will follow her advice about communicating better with my professors from now on.
Please understand that my low GPA that led to my dismissal does not indicate that I am a bad student. Really, I'm a good student who had one very, very bad semester. I hope you will give me a second chance. Thank you for considering this appeal.

I am writing this academic dismissal appeal letter to thank you for allowing me to explain why I failed my previous exams. I received the dismissal appeal letter earlier this week, and I will gladly state the circumstances that led to my failure in my classes the last semester. I am confident in myself and, I know that I am capable of showcasing my academic capabilities in style if given another chance.
The main reason why I did not do well in my classes was that I had to look for a new place to live. At the beginning of the semester, I was rendered homeless, which distorted me mentally, making me lose concentration, especially in school. As a result of my surrounding circumstances, I was forced to work extra jobs, which made me miss some school classes to save enough money to buy a new place. This caused me to fail to understand what was taught in class and, unfortunately, fail my end-of-semester examinations.
My previous grades have never been this low, as depicted in my school records. This was very unusual for me, and now that I have found a new place to stay and I am settled, I know that I will improve in my future semesters, even bettering my previous academic records.
After writing this letter, I hope you will give me another chance to retake my tests and reinstate me back to class.

I am writing this letter to appeal my academic dismissal from Devry University. I want an opportunity to explain the circumstances that led to my end-of-semester exams in my previous semester. I understand and acknowledge the reason behind the decision to dismiss me from the University. Still, I would like to state my case based on the surrounding circumstances that led to my examination failure at the time.
I failed my semester examinations because I have a seven-year daughter who I was home-schooling. She is in her second grade, and as a result of the ongoing pandemic, I was forced to give her my full attention during these challenging times. Covid-19, which led to home isolation and minimum physical interactions with others outdoors, led me to make it upon myself to educate my daughter, especially with her schoolwork after I lost several part-time jobs, which enabled me to pay for her school and online learning.
I took it upon myself to educate her to ensure that she does not remain behind in her schoolwork at my learning expense. As a parent, I have to ensure that my daughter gets the best there is to offer no matter the challenges that come in this life. I have resolved her issue by hiring a new tutor for her who will be cooperating with her to ensure she excels in school to focus on my schoolwork.
