In this context, Baraniuk (2014) states that the government and private players controlling social media and other internet-based applications practically track all activity users engage in their daily routines. The author acknowledges that everything that people do today involves computerized platforms, including simple aspects such as kindle monitoring a person’s reading speed. As a result, when one thinks of all other devices, the surveillance avenues become limitless. They incorporate aspects such as tracking taxi and fare data, combining them with the location of one’s mobile phone devices, and other communication and texting routines to eliminate any privacy. Other aspects include the surveillance of individuals using Google Maps and constantly collecting information when in use. Apps such as CarSafe are so sophisticated that their use aggregates contextual environmental and location data. It also uses the two cameras on the phone to assess a person’s driving habits and transmits this information to the respective companies. These features indicate that all internet use automatically surrenders one’s data due to the massive surveillance threshold of interconnected devices and networks.   Are Such Surveillance Measures Justified by Claims that They are Necessary for Tackling Cybercrime?             Although people have been complaining about the aggressive nature of internet surveillance in the modern era, trends indicate that the approach remains justified to a significant threshold. For instance, Macnish (2015) suggests that people always cite their human rights while protesting any government abuse. Although everyone has a right to privacy, individuals must acknowledge that cybercrimes and internet-related terrorism are a reality in contemporary times. In this context, the writer terms it ridiculous for a suicide bomber or a serial rapist to complain about their privacy violation after police exploit their browsing history to arrest them before committing their crimes. This argument demonstrates that the surveillance data becomes justified if appropriately used. As a result, people must embrace the changing times and sacrifice some of their privacy rights for public security. Evidence demonstrates that sophisticated crimes closely relate to internet use, which assists the law enforcement agencies in quashing them early by exploiting surveillance data.
