Cities: Skylines is an impressive city-building simulation game with all the resources used to construct a realistic city from scratch. The game’s mechanics make it easy and fun to design and establish an appealing city of choice based on one’s creativity. Part of the fun is the puzzle of finding a suitable traffic solution.
Realism is the experience important to the game. As I played the game, I felt like I was managing a real city.The game boasts of a realistic economy, infrastructure, and traffic system that need strategic planning and techniques to thrive (Olszewski et al., 2020). After establishing the city zones and road networks, the commercial, industrial, recreational, and residential areas emerge, subjecting the player to the fun and challenges of operating a real city. The zones and residents must be connected to the electricity grids and water. They also need educational facilities, safety services, employment opportunities, and recreation facilities. All these services require an excellent road network to function properly (Khan & Zhao, 2021).
A character I think was important to the game is the mayor. Since the game involves building a city, the player has to assume the role of a mayor. During the game, the player must monitor the administrator's activities and various city departments to ensure the implementation of city ordinances and state laws (Olszewski et al., 2020).
