Ideally, servant leadership has various characteristics that make it different from other models. These include showing empathy, where the leader has the ability to recognize and comprehend the feelings, as well as the emotions experienced by other team players. Every servant leader is required to care for other individuals, and this is possible when they understand other individuals better. Additionally, servant leaders listen to other individuals; they pay attention to other peoples’ views. Listening also enables servant leaders in comprehending interpersonal situations of the people they interact with, and this helps in resolving conflicts and counselling others. Besides, listening is also ideal for promoting reflection which facilitates the well-being of a servant leader. Unlike other leadership models, servant leaders are capable of overseeing possible outcomes from underlying situations. Besides, conceptualization is also critical among servant leaders since it helps in imagining how the future can reconcile with current realities.
