 The Importance of Quality in Health Care
The U.S. is currently working on how to expand health care services to all U.S. citizens. This is causing government officials to pressure insurance companies, health organizations, and health care providers to look at the overall picture. How do you deliver health care coverage to more people, while lowering healthcare spending, and not affect the quality of care that is delivered to all?  The current influx of patients that are being added to the healthcare system, are causing health organizations to come up with ways on how to deliver care to more patients with less medical personnel.  “With heightened emphasis on the imperatives to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivered in U.S. hospitals and health systems, healthcare managers are challenged to consider innovative approaches to address these issues” (McAlearney, 2008). The delivery of quality of care to all patients is extremely important when trying to achieve the main goal of delivering health services to more patients. Many stakeholders are affected by failing to deliver quality of care to all. The cost of health care will continue to rise by failing to deliver quality care. Patients are more likely to return to be seen for the same health issue, due to not receiving quality care the first time around. The domino affect takes place and more stakeholders are affected by the poor delivery of quality of care. Health organizations that fail to deliver quality services, begin to receive less government reimbursements as well as insurance payments.
