 The Importance of Quality in Health Care
The U.S. is currently working on how to expand health care services to all U.S. citizens. This is causing government officials to pressure insurance companies, health organizations, and health care providers to look at the overall picture. How do you deliver health care coverage to more people, while lowering healthcare spending, and not affect the quality of care that is delivered to all?  The current influx of patients that are being added to the healthcare system, are causing health organizations to come up with ways on how to deliver care to more patients with less medical personnel.  “With heightened emphasis on the imperatives to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivered in U.S. hospitals and health systems, healthcare managers are challenged to consider innovative approaches to address these issues” (McAlearney, 2008). The delivery of quality of care to all patients is extremely important when trying to achieve the main goal of delivering health services to more patients. Many stakeholders are affected by failing to deliver quality of care to all. The cost of health care will continue to rise by failing to deliver quality care. Patients are more likely to return to be seen for the same health issue, due to not receiving quality care the first time around. The domino affect takes place and more stakeholders are affected by the poor delivery of quality of care. Health organizations that fail to deliver quality services, begin to receive less government reimbursements as well as insurance payments. Quality of care is extremely important in order for the U.S. to continue to expand health care services to all U.S. citizens. Health organizations must continue to come up with ways on how to deliver health services to more, while not compromising quality of care.  
The expansion of quality services is not an easy task,  it is a task that involves many key stakeholders in order for the plan to be successful. Hospital administration plays an important role in painting a clear picture of where the health institution is and where it needs to be. Health administrators must push leadership into knowing what to expect from key players that will ultimately make the main goal a success. The main goal being the delivery of quality services to more patients while  not compromising quality of care. The stakeholders that play an important role in the overall success of the goal are the physicians, nurses, hospital support staff and also the patients that are being treated. Team work, efficiency, communication are only a few of the components needed in order to make the goal an overall success. 
“A large part of our quality problem is the amount of inappropriate care provided in this country. Elimination of such non-beneficial and potentially harmful care would lead to a large savings in human and financial costs” (Schuster, McGlynn, & Brook, 1998) .  Hospital personnel must improve communication, this simple task will enable everyone to work efficiently while knowing what has been done and what still needs to be done.  Exte...
