Discussing Art: Animals and Nature
This week, you started Ch. 7 of the textbook. This half of the chapter introduced you to the theories and philosophies surrounding the social function of art. This inspired the artists of the Realism movement to portray "real" life as they saw it in their own time and place.
To earn points for this week's discussion, complete the following:
Review the Ch. 7a reading and Ch. 7a PPT
Take a photo that depicts real life as it happens in front of your own eyes. I imagine there will be a lot of home scenes and portraits of family, pets, etc. But you may wish to portray real life you view from news reports or other media as well. The only rule is that the subject matter needs to reflect this particular time.
Although it is easy to point and click with your camera phones, try to be creative in the arrangement and framing of your photograph and take the time to choose your subject thoughtfully.

I took this photo during one of my visists to the game park. What interests me about this piece is relaxed and cool the yuoung leopards look. They are onboard the vehicle used by tour guides and they seem to enjoy the ride. Whereas it could argued that it is because they are tamed and used to interacting with people, I would consider this a major step towards conserving the ecology.
