China: The Mandate of Heaven
This documentary explores China's historical roots. It's among a series of documentaries that looks back on the rich civilizations of the Earth in order to understand the cultural differences. This film is particularly interesting because it explores the recurring themes throughout China's rich history.
One of the most striking talking points in the film is how Chinese people places great value on their ancestor's wisdom. The video successfully demonstrated how the Chinese value wisdom and other virtues such as harmony, righteousness, and loyalty among others. It is one of the things that Confucianism has taught them. They give importance to familial ties. Blood connections are also highly regarded which can be a good thing or a bad thing in today's world. They believe that families who are peaceful prosper and that is certainly admirable. Their love for wisdom emphasizes the importance of knowing how to discern right from wrong so they can be resourceful to control evil in order to live the good life. But the highlight of the film is how the Chinese believed that those who are able to take charge of history are mandated by heaven to rule, thus the term “mandate to heaven”.
In their minds, the Chinese strongly believed that there can only be one ruler
