In the film Dismissed, class is defined in different ways. One of the ways is that classes are the groupings that people identify with based on occupation, education, lifestyle, and economic status. Pepi Leistyna, a professor of Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, defines class as the groupings in society that are determined by the income and accumulated wealth, the power and influence that one has in the political process, and the cultural aspect that is determined by taste, education, and lifestyle.
