Exit Through the Gift Shop
The film ‘Exit through the gift shop,` is a documentary, though this has been a subject of debate too, with those who oppose it as a documentary, terming it a mockumentary. It is directed by Banksy, who is a political activist and a well renowned graffiti artist from England. He has done a number of graffiti, and some of them are especially controversial, like the £10 British notes, with princess Diana`s face, instead of the queens,` and the words ‘banksy of England` in place of the words ‘bank of England.` This film ‘Exit through the gift shop`, is his first film production and premiered on the 24th of January, 2010, at the Sundace film festival. He has also been in collision with the government, because of the government`s refusal to recognize street art, but instead terming it vandalism. This film is about the lives of street artists, and their struggle to make a living out of it.
The purpose from this movie, to the audience, is to promote street art, and, therefore, shore up the demand and attention that is given to street art.
