An Ocean Mystery: The Missing Catch is a documentary that focuses on fish use by human beings over the past decades. The marine biologist Dr. Daniel Pauly states that firms often belittle the number of fish caught globally. Doctor Pauly journeys across the world with his team of experts and cameramen to interview several different fishers, seafood restaurant managers, and charter boat operators to understand why overfishing and the number of times workers often underestimate the number of fish caught daily to prevent overfishing as much as possible.
Critique
The film fairly presents ideas as people pay much less attention to fisheries. Dr. Daniel stresses the importance of the fact that even if people fish little every day, it still contributes to a more significant amount worldwide and adds up; without a suitable way to preserve fish, the world will ultimately lose fish. The team tracks down several unaccounted fisheries and discovers that the reported catch was only 336,190 metric tons, whereas the actual catch was much larger, numbered 884500 metric tons. By identifying such illegal and unreported fisheries, Dr. Daniel could add the right number to his target of finding the actual number of fish humans have removed from the ocean since industrial fishing came into existence.
