Based on the Netflix Documentary “Explained: Tattoos,” a tattoo is an art piece made with ink, using the human skin as a canvass, which marks a significant event, period, or symbol that is relevant to its wearer. In almost all cultures around the globe, the art of tattooing was reserved to men or women who have undergone a rite of passage, a ritual or a ceremony to mark them as different from other people in their society.
Tattoos are generally designed that are marked on the skin by using sharp needles to embed the ink into the skin. Traditional tattoos are hand drawn by continuous and repetitive tapping. Tattooing is undoubtedly painful which makes it so that the receivers of the tattoo should be able to struggle and overcome the pain of receiving their design.
