Juxtaposition in the Ordinary People Film
Conrad survived the road accident that took the life of his brother Bulk. This event creates the play’s primary concern in the description of an upper-middle-class family suffering disintegration following Buck’s death. However, although Conrad survives the accident, he enters a substantial period of depression following the event. Consequently, he attempts suicide and is forced to see his outpatient psychiatrist for the first time after getting discharged from the hospital for the issue (Guest, 54). Following his conversation with the doctor, Conrad seems anxious and does not even know the desirable help he should acquire from the hospital. For instance, he tells the psychiatrist that maybe he needed a tranquilizer (Guest, 54).
