Jazz Concert Essay

This jazz concert took place in New York in March 2019. The band is made up of six of the leading jazz musicians of our day, including Cécile McLorin Salvant (voice), Bria Skonberg (trumpet, voice), Melissa Aldana (tenor saxophone), Christian Sands (piano, musical director), Yasushi Nakamura (bass), and Jamison Ross (drums, voice). The concert took place on a small and intimate feeling stage.
The music itself was perfect for the venue. It was a mix of purely instrumental music, and music with an accompanying voice. The music itself was composed by different people, and so the songs have different vibes. The concert is arranged so that it builds to a peak, and then lets the energy fall away.
