A Cultural Analysis Of "Where to Invade Next" By Michael Moore
Prompt 1.
Culture plays an essential role in determining people’s ways of life. People in different parts of the world have different cultures, as evidence by Michael Moore’s documentary, “Where to Invade Next.” The documentary outlines the various countries that Michael visited and the topic of study covered in each country. In Tunisia, Michael examined the issue of women's rights. He analyzed how these rights have affected the constitution. He also analyzed the concept of quality reproductive health care and the access to abortion as influenced by women's rights. The final concept studied in Tunisia is the culture of wearing Hijabs. According to the documentary, the state has been forcing women to wear Hijabs instead of letting them make a personal decision of whether to wear them or not.
In Norway, Michael studied the culture of the prison system. Michael found out that the prison systems were based on rehabilitation instead of revenge. The value of rehabilitation is used to guide incarceration. Norway has a human prison system where the concept of the death penalty has been abolished. The nation's beliefs that wrongdoers deserve rehabilitation to help them become responsible people in society. According to their culture, revenge is not a guarantee that a person would change their behavior but can instead worsen a persons’ behavior. Michael visited various prisons to find out more about the concept of rehabilitation as the guiding factor for incarceration.

These values change from one culture to another. in the case of Tunisia, women's rights have a huge influence on the formulation of the constitution. The women's rights push for access to a better reproductive health care system and access to abortion. The state also forces women to wear hijabs, but the fighters for women's rights believe that women should be allowed to decide whether they will wear hijabs or not. In America, women's rights have evolved a lot and also have an impact on the constitution. Women have access to a quality reproductive health care system. Pregnant women are allowed to weigh their options regarding the future of their children. In America, women are not forced to wear Hijabs, and every person has the freedom to religion.
In Norway, the prison system is based on the concept of rehabilitation instead of revenge. This belief has led to the abolition of the death penalty. The American prison system is based on the concept of revenge, where criminals serve jail terms depending on the crime committed. The American system used to rely on the concept of rehabilitation until the mid-1970s. During this time, prisoners were allowed to develop valuable life skills and resolve various psychological issues such as drug abuse. However, such has changed because it created concerns about the reintegration of the victims in society, and the justice system adopted punishment to curb crime. Tw...
