From his video, Joe Schmitt was a marine corps, and currently, he has retired. He shares his beliefs on being a great servant leader (ted.com, 2014). One of beliefe is that as a servant leader, one ought to put his/her subjects on the frontline and to motivate them to act accordingly. He describes this belief by talking about an individual anecdote regarding his son getting a life-intimidating health diagnosis when he was at preschool and the way his commandant replied. In a fully touching story, it is clear that leadership entails examining other people’s lives and going an extra mile to assist them (ted.com, 2014). The commandant’s passion gave Schmitt motivation to dedicate his personal resources to forming the Wounded Warrior Program.
