Lords of Dogtown is an American fact-based drama film. Stacey Peralta wrote the film. Moreover, it was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who both David Fincher and Fred Durst assisted. Eventually, the producer of the film was Fincher. This paper will focus on analyzing Stacy Peralta with the theme, American Dream; Jay Adams with the theme, Art, Identity, & Commercialism; and Tony Alva with the theme, Consequences of Success. The main characters include; Stacy Peralta, Jay Adams, and Tony Alva. The three teenagers liked surfing and skating all of their lifetimes (Borden, 2017). They used a designed board known as Skip Engblom. One day, a guy known as Skip was offered a new skateboard known as polyurethane wheels in his shop. The name of the shop was known as Zephyr Surf Shop.
There was a teenager by the name of Sid who worked at the shop. He was a friend to the three boys. He decided to invite his experienced best friend to test the new skateboard. The duo had won various trophies together, so there was no doubt about them. These ideas came as a surprise to them as the new Polyurethane allowed them to make similar curves on the ground to the one made by surfboard on the waves. After knowing what a new skateboard can do, Skip decided to offer his favorite skateboard to the skate team. The team of three had already proved to be famous and victorious by winning different trophies across Venice. However, a hot weather period accompanied by drought came. The drought means that water will be scarce, so there will be no enough water to fill swimming pools used for skating.
History Around Skateboarding
The three boys had now come to the top of their world. They had fame and were enjoying their passion. However, Stacy and Tom mainly skated for money compared to Jay, who does it for passion. They started competing against each other and became the most significant rival ever in the history of skating competitions. The movie was produced in the year 2005. It is the only movie that was produced by both collaborations of Tristar and Columbia Pictures. Its storyline is based on young skateboarders' group from Santa Monica, California, during the 1970s. The larger social issues at the time include problems affecting minorities. This was a period of cultural change, technological innovation, and economic struggle. Charlie Angels' show promoted Stacy, while Tony began to make his own merchandising and board manufacturing advertisements. However, Jay appears in an advertisement where he is sponsoring a catlike toy and is being paid 10 000 us dollars. However, things seemed unexpected. In a major championship in which the three Z-boys were participating, Tony got himself involved in a fight with his fellow skater. The action took place in the middle of the stadium. He was badly beaten and even hospitalized because of serious injuries. It is of no doubt that this incident altered his career. Additionally, Jay left the company that sponsors him when they provided him with low-quality materials for the championship participation. This came as an advantage to S...
