Dr. Gus Casely-Hayford presents a fascinating exploration of ancient Africa. I watched the first episode, Nubia, and I found it extremely captivating. From the documentary, the unique features that influenced the development and civilization of Nubia were water, climate, and cattle. The River Nile provided the kingdom with a source of water to support its livelihood. It is also mentioned in the documentary how ancient Nubia was characterized by tolerable temperatures and vegetation, unlike now when the temperature can reach up to 50°C. There was cattle-rearing culture that was also a source of food and basically a way of life. I believe these are some of the important aspects that facilitated the development and civilization of not only the kingdom of Nubia but also others in Africa.
