K-dramas are an emerging superpower in cinema as it tackles societal struggles in terms of social class and representation of the minority in television. Itaewon Class is a very timely as well as entertaining series for the modern world. The story is filled with emotional and exciting scenes as it brings the viewer through the struggles and victories of the protagonist.
Actor Park Seo-joon plays the main character Saeroyi who can explore and expand his understanding of social class, inequality, and discrimination. The main character is very relatable and handsome, as he perseveres and works hard to attain his ambitions. The Male Gaze theory can be used to explain how the audience relates to the drama. The audience is very important to think about when creating a series. The directors and producers always think about their target audience when making a new tv series. This makes their final product marketable and trending in the viewers. Laura Mulvey’s theory can be used to explain why this is so. Mulvey argues that a mainly heterosexual male perspective dominated the narrative in popular media. The male figure is the most relatable as the spectator feels a transference of the protagonist’s story and experiences in himself. The character’s decisions and actions affects the viewer’s emotions through the actor. The male gaze is a particular theory that is observable in Itaewon Class. This adds to its success and popularity.

The protagonist's life is centered around a high-school dropout and ex-convict, a demographic that is looked-down upon by South Korean society. Saeroyi's background does not stop him from creating a goal, a grand dream, and an image of victory from his enemies. However, little did he know that the most significant victory he will get is to create meaningful relationships with different people who help him along his way. He meets the people that include a former cellmate, a biracial Korean man, a transgender person, and a sociopath. These are the four people that he hired in establishing his pub in Itaewon in his goal to win against his mortal enemies. The story's main antagonist is a compelling and influential family who causes most of the protagonist's sufferings.
