The Graduate (1976) is a coming of age film that presents a lot of common situations but presented with a unique twist through symbolism. The film is about a successful young man (Benjamin Braddock) who has his life together according to society but he is lost in the world. The director of the film (Mike Nichols) used various aspects of cinematography such as sound design and visual editing to effectively display how each film character transitions to adulthood. The film's cinematography puts the audience in the position of the protagonist and creates a sense of empathy and support for the protagonist.
